With everything going on around the world, we all find ourselves spending more time inside and at home than we may like. But it is important that we stay at home as much as possible. While you may be able to work from home or find yourself busy with other projects, it can be hard to stay motivated in your fitness.

In our last blog, we talked about ways you can stay fit and motivated while in quarantine. In this blog, we wanted to give you more home fitness tips! While it can be difficult to stay motivated at home, there are little workouts you can do throughout the day to stay on top of your fitness, even if you are not motivated for a full workout.

While Cypress Fitness in McLean is currently closed, you can still get a good workout at home and we are still trying to stay engaged with our clients and members. Read on for some easy workouts to do in your home!

Climb The Stairs

If you have stairs in your home, climbing them is a good way to burn some extra calories. If you need a break in the middle of your workday or you want to get a bit of a workout, run up and down your stairs a few times before carrying on with your day. For a good glute workout, skip a stair and push with your back leg. This is a similar workout to the stair climbers you find at the gym.


Lunges are a simple and great workout. You can do lunges as you walk through your home to get a workout throughout the day. As you walk from room to room doing different tasks, try doing lunges as you go. Your legs and glutes will be feeling it by the end of the day!


Squats are a simple workout that can be done throughout the day as well. But if you rarely find yourself simply standing still, do some squats while brushing your teeth. It is likely you stand in front of the mirror while brushing your teeth, so might as well get your body moving and get in a bit of a workout!


Curls are another simple workout that you can do at any time throughout the day. Are you making eggs for breakfast? Do curls with the gallon of milk while you cook. Are you watching TV? Grab a hand weight and do some curls while you binge-watch Tiger King. Curls can be done anywhere and even if you don’t have a heavy weight, the repetition of the movement will have your arms sore in no time!

Calf Raises

Calf raises are a killer workout that will have your legs burning in no time. You don’t even need to add weight to this workout to really feel it. Calf raises can be done with cooking, washing dishes, brushing your teeth, or even in the shower (just be careful you don’t slip!). After about 30 of these, your calves are sure to be feeling it!

Push Ups

Push ups are a workout that can be done anywhere. Push ups work the triceps, shoulders, and pectoral muscles. Plus, they can also help you strengthen your core and lower back, which makes them a great workout to do regularly. Do push ups throughout the day for a quick break for your other tasks and to get a good workout.

These are all simple workouts that can be done anywhere and at any time. Challenge yourself to do a few of these each day to stay active and on top of your fitness. We all know that workout out at a gym with machines and weights can be easier, but just because you are stuck at home doesn’t mean you can’t get a good workout! Even if you have absolutely no motivation, you can add some of these little exercises into your routine to stay active and feel better.
